The New Westminster Secondary School Replacement Project will provide a state-of the-art learning environment for 1,900 students from Grades 9 to 12. The new school will be approximately 19,800 square metres in building gross area.

Project Description:

The New Westminster Secondary School Replacement Project will accommodate 1,900 grade 9 to 12 students. The new school will provide a state-of-the-art learning environment. It will be designed to optimize the use of flexible learning spaces to maximize collaboration and active learning and will include technology that enriches the learning process. Multi-purpose spaces and modern shops, as well as contemporary fine and performing arts spaces will enhance the environment for the school community. It will also meet today’s standards for modern learning, safety and accessibility, and incorporate the latest sustainable energy and waste management systems. The Project will include a facility that is approximately 19,800 m2 (building gross area) including:

  • Learning space;
  • Parking for staff, students and visitors;
  • Field / outdoor athletic space; and
  • Flexibility to allow for future expansion.

The new school will be constructed adjacent to the current New Westminster Secondary School (NWSS) using a design-build procurement approach. NWSS will remain fully operational throughout construction.
